FAQ

  • I am a European Union citizen, do I have to quarantine if I come to Italy?

No, in accordance with the decree of 14 May 2021, European citizens do not have to spend time in quarantine if they present a negative result from an antigen or molecular swab test conducted in the 48 hours prior to entry.

  • I am not an EU citizen, do I have to quarantine if I come to Italy

Yes, pursuant to the regulations in force until 30 July, you have to self-isolate under medical supervision for 10 days.

  • Are there any exemptions from conducting swab tests prior to entry and undergoing quarantine for non-EU citizens?

Yes, in two cases:

  1. If your stay is a short one of 120 hours
  2. If you are granted a ministerial exemption from the Italian government
  • I am a US citizen, can I avoid quarantine?

Yes, if you are on a COVID-TESTED flight, you do not have to take a swab test on entry or quarantine.

  • From which non-EU countries does Italy receive COVID-TESTED flights?

COVID-TESTED flights are currently in operation for those coming from:
-USA, CANADA, JAPAN, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.

  • Which Italian airports receive COVID-TESTED flights?

Currently the airports of Malpensa, Fiumicino, Venice and Naples.

  • What should I do if my journey includes stopovers?

Follow the orders of the stopover country.

  • Do Israeli citizens have to quarantine?

No, as they are considered on a par with European citizens.

  • Do UK citizens have to quarantine?

No, as they are considered on a par with European citizens.

  • From which countries does Italy have very strict entry restrictions in place?

Very few: India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Brazil. For more information, write to the email address.

  • Is the Italian government planning in the near future to make it easier to enter for the citizens of countries where the public health situation has improved and the vaccination campaign is going well?

Yes, Italy looks set to introduce “green corridors” for people travelling for business reasons.
